In this first novelette introducing readers to the world of Sphaera, Sapien the Wise takes you through a story of two warring gods. Zorgoth Mor, the ruler of the fiery plane of Incaendium, sends three ancient red dragons to destroy the island kingdom of Lucidium. Vilagir, the god of the Balance, influences the mightiest king on the planet to engage and destroy these dragons.
The story opens with Sapien the Wise, Master Sage of Altus, introducing the reader to the world of Sphaera, and more specifically, Altus and the surrounding areas. Once there, Sapien then begins to sense the oncoming danger of the dragons as they prepare to attack Lucidium.
After using his remote sight to view the slaughter, Sapien soon realizes that there is a hidden power, much greater than that of the dragons’ that he cannot yet identify. Knowing that the king must be summoned, Sapien uses his amulet to teleport to King Aisr and inform him.
King Asir, aware that Zorgoth Mor is behind this violence, pulls his army, navy, and flying corps of griffon riders together in order to defend Lucidium. If there is any chance of success, the Vedikir must also be summoned. Five mighty warriors, each with unique skills and abilities, called together in times of great need to maintain the Balance.
Belevus the paladin, defender of the innocent and favored warrior of the god Vilagir. Errapel, the master cleric of Altus and also a favored son of Vilagir. Then there is Novus, an incredibly powerful arch mage. She is mysterious, beautiful, and deadly. Also deadly, Narius the master assassin has joined the side of good. Finally, but not in any way less than the other four, Qiang Bai the monk spreads wisdom, keeps the peace, and in rare cases…kills giants with a single strike of his hand. These five are the Vedikir of now. There are always five, and when one dies, another must be immediately found.
The Covetous Nature of Dragons and other semi-monthly titles all take place on the fantastical world of Sphaera.
